چکیده

Results At baseline the arterial oxygen tension (PaO2) was 539 ± 50 mmHg and 508 ± 35 mmHg in Controls and NaNO2 i.v. respectively (fraction of inspired oxygen = 1.0). PaO2 decreased to 67 ± 17 mmHg (Controls) and 57 ± 13 mmHg (NaNO2 i.v.) after ARDS induction. During the protocol, PaO2 increased to 120 ± 73 mmHg (Controls) and 103 ± 82 mmHg (NaNO2 i.v.). NOex was unchanged in both groups. Lung Wet/Dry-Ratios were 8.1 ± 0.8 (Controls) and 8.9 ± 0.7 (NaNO2 i.v.). For hemodynamic values see Table 1 (all values: mean ± SD).

Hypersensitivity Reaction and Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome in Pyrethroid Poisoning and Role of Steroid Therapy

Background: Pyrethroids are generally of low toxicity to humans, but in suicidal poisonings which are usually associated with ingestion of high doses, they lead to severe systemic effects. Case Report: A 30-year old woman presented to emergency department with a history of intentional ingestion of about 15 mL of prallethrin around 3 days earlier. She complained of shortness of breath along with...

Validity of Spo2/Fio2 Ratio in Detection of Acute Lung Injury and Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome

Introduction:  One ofdiagnostic criteria for Acute Lung Injury and Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome is  pao2/fio2 (PF) ratio 300 for ALI or 200 for ARDS. This criteria requires invasive arterial sampling. Measurement of Spo2/Fio2 (SF) ratio by pulseoximetry may be a reliable non invasive alternative to the PF ratio.   Methods and Materials: In a cross sectional study we enrolled 105 sample o...

Rhabdomyolysis and Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome Secondary to Multiple Wasp Stings

Background: Wasp stings usually cause local reactions such as itching, urticaria, angioedema and anaphylaxis. Life-threatening complications following multiple wasp stings are relatively rare and unexpected. However, rhabdomyolysis and acute respiratory distress syndrome following wasp stings are possible. Case presentation: A middle-aged male worker was stung by a swarm of wasps all over his b...

Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome in a Patient With Suspected Influenza: A Case Report

Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) is a clinical syndrome consisting of tachypnea, refractory hypoxemia, and diffuse opacities on chest radiographs after infection or trauma which ultimately leads to respiratory failure. The principles of treatment are based on patient care in ICU, mechanical ventilation and medical treatments. By using lower plateau, less tidal volume, higher positive ...

CLINICAL SCIENCES Early Administration of Inhaled Nitric Oxide to Children with Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome and Its Effects on Oxygenation and Ventilator Settings: Prospective Preliminary Report of Ten Patients

Aim. To establish a protocol for the early introduction of inhaled nitric oxide (iNO) therapy in children with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and to assess its acute and sustained effects on oxygenation and ventilator settings. Patients and Methods. Ten children with ARDS, aged 1 to 132 months (median, 11 months), with arterial saturation of oxygen <88% while receiving a fraction of...
